About Us

Hey there! I'm Jessica. I'm an actor and a writer. Some things I LOVE:

My handsome husband
Singing
Dancing
Autumn
Jesus
The Book of Mormon
Ice cream
Making homemade birthday cards
Surprises
Sidewalk chalk

This is Nicholas. We got married June 2013, woot! Woot! Nick is:
a gentleman
unfailingly loyal
tall
handsome
going to medical school
funny
so stinkin' intelligent

We met at a Halloween masquerade ball (it was a small party thrown by our church) in Chapel Hill, NC. I was working there as a professional yo-yo tricks performer {true story} The first conversation we had centered around books and reading. For our first date, we made ultimate chocolate chip cookies together and I met his parents. On our second date, we carved pumpkins together. He was charming and friendly and we had so much FUN together. I was smitten.

We ate out a lot, usually Indian food.
Then we started cooking dinner together, nearly every day.

Somehow, after knowing him only a month or so, I got up the nerve to invite him home for Christmas vacation. He visited my family in Utah for a week. Things were officially "serious." Oh, man. That sounds so serious. We should have a better descriptive word for relationships that are really headed somewhere. Like "groovy." Or maybe "happening." So, yeah, things were officially happening.

We clean up pretty nice, huh?
Nick asked me to marry him in April.
He planned to start medical school in August.
So we got in the car, drove to Utah, planned a wedding...
...and got married in June!

A herd of cows photo-bombed our engagement pictures. Typical.

We moved to Philadelphia after spending a few weeks driving around the country. We found a cute, sunlit attic apartment and slept on the floor for almost a week before our mattress was delivered. We still don't have a couch, but we do have a kitchen table!

Nick rides his bicycle to school every day (8 mile ride each way). I teach early morning seminary every day (at 6 a.m.). Then I try to write, rehearse, make a little money, while he's off slaying the dragon. When we come home, we make dinner together and play Boggle, Banagrams, or Carcassonne.

We haven't been married that long, we haven't been in town too long. This blog is a place where I can tell our stories as we figure things out and watch our life together unfold.

It's also my way of declaring what's in my heart. I love the Lord and I know He is aware of us, the thoughts and intents of our hearts, and wants us to by happy. I feel incredibly blessed to be married to my best friend, living in a place where amazing things can happen. I want to share the miracles and experiences and blessings that come with life. I love that this blog has helped me to meet other people with stories to tell and miracles to share. They've enriched my understanding of God and His children.

Things I believe:

True love is real
Life is good and hard and worth it
The Book of Mormon is true
Dedication and consistency yield success
A good kiss will cure the blues
Each of us has a divine potential and purpose
