Brush with the Olympics

While I didn't spend anytime in London where the 2012 games will be held, I witnessed plenty of the excitement and anticipation. British flags in celebration flew along the rooftops, the Olympic mascots were being sold in the grocery stores and at each school we talked about the seven Olympic values*

And I even came across one of the torch runners!

I gave him a yo-yo and told him about the message it bears: Never Give Up, Encourage Others and Do Your Best. I thanked him for being a champion.

*Respect, Excellence, Friendship, Courage, Determination, Inspiration and Equality. The students can name all seven off for you!
